Coopagri Bretagne came about as a result of the mutual aid spirit that exists in Brittany, and it was formed as an agricultural co-operative i.e. a grouping of farmers who decide to join forces in order to process and market their produce together. This project revolved around the strong values shared by all involved.
A co-operative is strongly attached to its region through its shareholders. It's principal aim is to develop and to defend the revenues of its member farmers who, in the case of Coopagri Bretagne, obviously come from the four departments in Brittany and its bordering departments.
In concrete terms, this means that the co-operative's company headquarters and the heart of its agricultural activity will never leave Brittany and that our future is bound, whatever happens, to the region. By developing subsidiaries, however, (still controlled by the "co-operative parent company", but with the legal status of a limited company) our group can process and market products outside Brittany and open up European and world-wide markets.
