There is no obligation for a farmer to become a member of Coopagri Bretagne, it is entirely voluntary. He delivers his produce to the co-operative, which then handles the sales and marketing, takes care of his supplies and offers him the services that he needs. Coopagri Bretagne is his company because he is also a member.

Coopagri Bretagne is a company in its own right because it runs an economic activity with the objective of providing its members (who are also its clients) with the best revenues possible. Its entire strategy and structure revolve around this: high targets for its economic performances, downstream development of products, services for its members and the proposal of the best products at the best prices...

Coopagri Bretagne is also a co-operative, since it respects the principles of a co-operative to the letter. Every member farmer has exactly the same decision-making power, whatever his volume of activity or his stake in the capital. He therefore has the power to decide on the key issues of the co-operative's day-to-day functioning: approval of accounts, allocation of earnings and election of board members etc.

Members are democratically represented by region (in regional sections) and by product (in specialist sections).
The members' power therefore stretches beyond just the Board of Directors and its office, to the boards of specialist or regional sections (by delegation) which meet throughout the year. These structures have been set up to increase communication, analysis and proposals so that the management is aware of its members' concerns and can react rapidly.
